Bring Your Inner Glow Out
Your natural beauty never fades, but as we age, the color and texture of our skin changes. You may be looking for a way to appear younger and smooth out any fine lines and wrinkles you’ve acquired. With Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) at Amore Aesthetics, we can help you get your natural glow back. By using light to improve your skin’s elasticity and over-exposure to the sun, IPL will have you looking younger in no time.
What is IPL?
IPL is a non-surgical way to treat wrinkles and spots while improving your skin’s color and texture. By using light energy, IPL therapy sends light through the layers of the skin to decrease inflammation and encourage internal collagen production. This light energy targets the vessels in the surface of your skin, where the heat stimulates cell regeneration.
With our state of the art broad spectrum light, we are able to use different wavelengths to target specific cellular processes, including:
What happens during an IPL procedure?
Preparation
Before your appointment, be sure to avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least three days as it can disrupt the effectiveness of IPL. When you arrive for your appointment, we will discuss the treatment in detail and prepare the area.
Application
We will apply the broad spectrum light to the desired area of treatment, taking about 30 to 60 minutes to complete. When your skin is exposed to these wavelengths, the mitochondria absorb the light and generate more energy—anti-inflammatory responses are triggered and your cells are able to repair and rebuild themselves as they need.
Aftercare
After your IPL treatment, you may experience some slight redness and swelling. In the first week of the healing process, your skin may begin to peel—it’s important to not scratch or pick at the skin. To assist in the healing process, we recommend you apply moisturizer generously, avoid any strenuous activity for at least 48 hours, and don’t exfoliate your skin for at least a week. Make sure to avoid exposing yourself to intense heat or sunlight without protection for at least a month after treatment.
FAQs
From stretch marks and acne to sunspots and wrinkles, IPL is a convenient and safe method of treating a variety of skin impurities. This light therapy treatment can be used on all areas of the face and body, but it’s best to consult with one of our experts to determine the best method for your needs.
Your desired results and skin type will determine how many IPL treatments are recommended. A consultation with our team will determine which options work best for you.
Treated spots will either break down and be absorbed by your body’s systems, or darken as they move to the skin’s surface where they will fall off as dead skin. Before you know it, your spots will be gone!
